Dev Log 1
Tiranogg is a remastered, commercial version of my old 2014 game, Enelysion. Apart from updated graphics, more music, locations and three additional characters, Tiranogg has also undergone an extensive rewrite as I felt the original game was too stiff and serious. Laine in particular has undergone quite the personality change, going from serious and a "bit uppity" to more laid-back and cheery. However, she is still serious where it matters.
She's undergone quite the transformation over the last decade or so. But several key details of her design remained like the turtleneck, popped collar and jacket and breastplate. Also, can't forget the spiky hairdo.
Granted, most of Enelysion's 2011-2014 dialogue at the time was heavily inspired by Fire Emblem. Even the beginning of the game is similar when two knights come looking for the lost heir (Fire Emblem: Blazing Blade) and Laine's original design was primarily based off Ike's Ranger class.
I always felt I could do more with the the game and when badluck (the creator of Ara Fell) turned his passion project into a commercial success, I was inspired to follow in his footsteps. Although I'm still using the same engine to make this version of Tiranogg, I never felt the need to jump to RPGMaker MV simply because while VX is seen as the "worst" modern RPGMaker engine, it still does its job of providing a developer with all the tools he or she needs to create a jRPG. And it's never the engine that makes the game. it is the person behind it. Also, I've become very comfortable with VX during the last decade or so of using it (my first engine was XP back in 2009).
Also, MV's plethora of plug-ins is extremely daunting to work through and even if I had ported Tiranogg to it, I would have been simply overwhelmed with where to being and where to end.
Which leads me to another thing I actually like about VX: its constraints actually forces me to narrow down my development choices and allows me to focus on actually finishing games. I'm not chasing the newest shiny plug-in and getting caught in the loop of constantly remaking my battle mechanics because that plug-in looked cool- and then another one comes along, and another... ad infinitum.
As for the name change: Tiranogg is roughly derived from Tilnanogue or Land of the Youth or Land of Promise. It also suits the game's heavy Celtic inspiration. There are a lot more Celtic changes (like Sir Rikard becoming Sir Scatha as a play on Scathach, the legendary warrior who trained CuchuLAIN. Think of it as role reversal ;)) or Vasilios becoming Indech. That plus an extended mythos regarding the Fianna and Firbolg.
I have put my heart and soul into this remaster and I can't wait to share it with you all come October 29! Until the next update, keep safe and be blessed!

Oh my god I played Enelysion way back in the day and I didn't know this was a remaster of the game. Keep up the good work and I would love to play this again. A more kinder version of Laine is good but still has her serious moments nice!
Ah, thank you :3 Please look forward to the game then! It's even better than the original now :3
